Gearing up for the holiday season.
I finally am home long enough to work a little. My week long sale was a mix of good things and not so good things. I experienced boredom, adulation, amazement, frustration, etc..., a normal week, I guess. Sales were less then acceptable but I was surrounded with a lovely garden and many artists who gave me inspiration, encouragement and laughter. The photo is of the booth they had arranged for me to go along with their garden theme. Could have used a few more plants.

Soup's On!
Well, after many deliberations here are my creations. Marianne kindly sent me two packages. the first was taking a long time and she worried I wouldn't have any beads. So, I made something from both of them. Using pendants like her fused glass was a real challenge for me. I usually have the idea of what I want then I make the beads to go with the idea. This was working backwards for me. It was a lot of fun and I learned more about fused glass. I even tried to faux fused glass like the blue one. It is not completely finished so that will go in a later post. this was great fun, thank you Marianne and Lori for all the work.

Ready to serve my soup!
Well, I'm ready to serve my soup. It's exciting! I can't wait to see what Marianne has done with my soup mix and all the other participants. It's kinda like a cook-off but for beads. Hi Hi!

My soup is ready!
I'm glad to report that I have finished my soup. Now, the only thing left is to figure out how to do the posting bit, times and all. I'm also all excited about this new technique I tried. The beads came out so nice, in my opinion. here's a peek.

The soup is heating up!
Still not ready to show my creation yet and I'm trying to figure out how to do the technical part. I am so not computer savvy. Tomorrow, I'll be rested and I will do this.
It's getting closer!
Well, I think I've come up with a design for Marlene's beautiful pendant. I'm still not sure if it's ok but some days you have to "Just do it!" Here is a close-up of a necklace I made myself for my birthday last week. The round bead is a chrosocolla I bought at a small bead shop in Orillia, ON where I vacationed this summer. Chrosocolla is known for its calming and clear-mind properties. Something I can use on a daily basis. I'll wear it to finish my bead soup piece. Can't hurt!

the big reveal is coming!
I've finally taken pictures of the bead soup that Marianne Baxter sent me. Actually, she sent me 2 packages, worried that the first one wouldn't get here on time. Thank you so much Marianne. She's in California and I am in Ottawa. That is pretty far from each other. Marianne works fused glass and her pieces are beautiful and would easily stand alone on a chain. My challenge is to embellish them, I think, to make them pop. So, that is what I am trying to figure out. Not much time left. Oh, no!
the big reveal is coming!
Well, the summer is over for me, time to get back to serious work. So, I'll take pictures and get the things done. Here is photo to keep you entertained while I get all that done. I like this shot because it shows the see-thru proporties of a faux agate I made.

Happy Birthday to me!
So, another year older today. I don't feel any different than I did yesterday. But I will enjoy my tranquility today, reading books and magazines. Here's a photo of a gift I made for myself a couple of years ago. I get nice comments on this one. The work will resume tomorrow.

I'm back in the swing of things, I think.
Sunday morning and trying to get over another flopped show/sale. Didn't even make the table. But met some nice people and got a couple of ideas. Kinda proud of myself, instead of coming home to sulk, I made another piece using some nice beads I had bought on a recent trip. It's not photographed yet, but I chose the beads with a purpose. One of them is chrosocolla which is good for health, calmness and clarity. I figure I can use that on a minute-to-minute basis. Better than sulking.
This photo is of another piece I had made instead of sulking. I can't remember what the sulking was about but I call this one Blue Fossils. I love the finish on this, it's gritty and smooth in all the right places just like a fossil.

Time to Vote!
Proudly, I am a member of the pcagoe, which is a group of polymer clay artists on etsy. Every month we hold a challenge. This month is especially 'special' because we called it Pink. It is in honour of one of our members that is battling breast cancer. So, please take a minute and go look at the beautiful work and vote for your favorite. There is a prize for one of the voters.

Just a little fun!
I just wanted to share this. I'm doing a show a the end of September and I just got the poster. they put my name instead of my business name but that's ok. I'm in print.
Ok, now that I look at it, it's too small to really see anything but take my word for it, I'm in there. Hi Hi.
